What is 'BadSoc'

The badminton society (or 'BadSoc' for short) is the casual badminton society at Lancaster University.
We currently run a booking system, meaning that personel will need to pre-book before attending (usually via our dedicated whatsapp group chat).
All attendees arrive on the day, and share court time with the other people.
We provide weekly 1 hour sessions for our attendees, and play casual 2v2 games.
Within these sessions, all equipment is provided, but we encourage people to bring their own racket if they have one.

Our mission statement

We pride ourselves in allowing as many students as possible to play badminton for a reasonable price.
We aim to allow both individuals and groups of students to play with other people- who they otherwise would never have met.

Inclusivity

We encourage players of any ability, race or gender to attend.
We approximately organise our courts into skill level- so whether you are a complete beginner or a badminton expert, there will be a place for you.

Badminton for the masses

During our first few sessions of the academic year, we have large numbers of attendees. We understand that this limits the playing time amongst attendees. However, due to our aim of introducing our sport to as many people as possible, we want to continue this tradition, so that we can inspire as many new faces as possible.
Luckily, as seen in the gallery section, our numbers drastically decrease as the year goes on- allowing our dedicated members to play for signifcantly longer than earlier in the year
